US Horse Racing
Leading events in US horse racing are the US Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes, the Preakness Stakes, the Kentucky Derby, and the Breeders' Cup meeting (USA and Canada).
US horse racing is categorised into thoroughbred racing, steeplechase racing, harness racing, quarter horse racing and hurdling.
American thoroughbred races are run at distances ranging from 4.5 furlongs to 1½ miles. And in order to create an even playing field, two-year-old horses get to race only against each other. Likewise, many races only have three-year-olds participating.
Horse racing in the US is in a counterclockwise direction, unlike in the UK and elsewhere where it can be either clockwise or anticlockwise. Typically, races are run on flat surfaces of either dirt or grass and are classified as allowance, handicap, stakes or claiming events.
Due to laws passed by the US Congress on online gambling, betting on US horse racing is legal only through pari-mutuel gambling (similar to UK Tote Betting). This law only applies to American citizens.

- 6). trifecta – pick in the exact order the three horses you think will finish first, second, and third.
